Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer and consultant, a columnist syndicated to a speaker writer, author and television presenter. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly thereafter. Corcoran was a participant in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. By February 2020, she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was second of a family of 10 kids, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was always changing jobs during Corcoran's entire life. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who occasionally drank too much and did her mother a disservice and condescension, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was a troubled student in school. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
